  1. START WITH THE BASICS! Along with the standard length, width and height, knowing the type of pallet and loaded pallet weight will determine capacity needed for your beams and uprights. Educating yourself and your SIE Territory Manager on storage requirements and warehouse needs will increase facility safety and productivity.
    How to measure a pallet
  2. KNOW YOUR SKU COUNT! Are you aware of what your warehouse SKU count is and how quickly the items on your shelves need to be accessed? Being able to answer critical questions such as those is paramount to finding the system that works best for your facility. Facilities with larger SKU counts or store time sensitive products are great candidates for Selective Racking because they’re capable of 100% selectivity for their products.
  3. DETERMINE LOADING CONDITIONS! Does your facility load with the UDL (Uniformly Distributed Load) method or Point Loads? Knowing your loading conditions will aid your search for the correct beams, which will tell you the capacity of your warehouse, as well as, the number of pallet positions you’ll be able to hold.
  4. VARIETY IS KEY! Southeast Industrial Equipment offers a wide variety of both static and dynamic racking solutions that are sure to keep your facility running to its full capacity. The choice between Selective, Push Back, Pallet Flow, and Drive-In racking options can be a daunting task, let an SIE Territory Manager help you decide which type is best for your warehouse.
  5. CHOOSE SOUTHEAST INDUSTRIAL EQUIPMENT! The team at Southeast Industrial Equipment will provide you with a hands on approach to making your warehouse work hard for you. We will help you fit your facility with the best racking solution for your products to decrease product damage and increase productivity and efficiency.

SIE Donates New Bikes To The Boys & Girls Club of Fort Mill, SC

Bikes

#SIEgivesback

Southeast Industrial Equipment has teamed up with the Boys & Girls Clubs of York County to donate $10,000 in new bicycles for the youth at their Fort Mill, South Carolina location.

“We are extremely thankful for the opportunity to partner with Southeast Industrial Equipment and appreciate the efforts to give back to their community in a big way during their annual meeting. Fort Mill Boys & Girls Club members are in for a huge surprise and we hope that you will join us as we celebrate, fun, fitness, and friendship as we join hands with our friends at Southeast Industrial Equipment, Inc. and together, celebrate Great Futures. Oh…and brand new bicycles too!” ~ Sara Blancke, Director of Development and Marketing for the Boys & Girls Clubs of York County

CN2 SIE

https://cn2.com/boys-girls-clubs-bicycles/

As a company, Southeast Industrial Equipment focuses on family, strong business relationships, providing quality equipment and services, and giving back to the communities we serve.

SIE conducted our annual mid-year sales meeting that involves a team building event each year. This is the time of year when we all get together to focus on the good of the company and the surrounding communities. We wanted to pack a punch and find a way to give back big and what better to do that but by serving the youth to promote healthy living and safety.

SIEBikes

We have teamed up with the local non-profit organization of the national Boys & Girls Clubs of America to promote healthy living and to give back to our community. As a team, SIE worked with a local bicycle manufacturer, Blood Sweat GearsBlood Sweat Gears, to build 75 bikes by hand to donate to the youth of the Boys & Girls Club of Fort Mill, SC during our “field day” event on Monday July 25th,2016. This event was planned with the 2016 Olympics in mind and the notion that “going for the gold” is not only a goal but a way of living for the children that attend this summer camp.

SIEBGCYC

SIE Bike Demo

After much detailed planning, the event went off without a hitch beginning with the presentation of the bicycles to the children. They had no idea they would be receiving such a gift to not only use in the games arranged on this day, but to take home, care for, and keep. The looks on their faces were priceless and solidifies all of the reasons why SIE takes so much pride in giving back to the communities that surround the southeast and beyond.

SIEBikes

SIEBikes

Safety is key to the success of the material handling industry much like the success of the athletes in the Olympics. After presenting the bikes to the children, Keith Isenberg of Blood Sweat Gears, spoke about the importance of safety while riding bicycles. Along with the bicycle donation, each child received a safety helmet that was custom fitted by our sales team after the children got their bikes. Keith focused on the importance of wearing your helmet at all times when riding their bikes, important hand signals and safety tips to keep in mind in around busy areas, streets, sidewalks and so on. The children were given an opportunity to tell us what they thought was the most important thing they should wear while riding their bikes. To our delight they all agreed that wearing their helmet was most important.

SIEBikes

Thanks to the Fort Mill Police Department, the children were able to practice the correct hand signals and things they learned from Blood Sweat Gears on their brand new custom fitted bikes.

SIEBikes

From there, the real fun began. Thanks to Andrea Monteruil Photographyam transparent, a lifestyle photographer in the Charlotte, NC and Fort Mill, SC area, we were able to capture the fun in action! The team at the Boys & Girls Club of Fort Mill, SC put together an outstanding morning of fun-filled activities for the SIE sales team to interact with the children.

The sales team and children enjoyed a lunch catered by SIE after the days’ activities and as we parted to go on to our next engagement, the children did not want us to leave! The relationships built through “friendship, fun and fitness” was the ultimate take away that our team and the children have not stopped speaking of. What a great opportunity to partner up with a local non-profit organization to get a hands on experience in giving back and having fun while channeling our inner youth! “Being able to see the smile on their faces is the gift that our sales team will remember for a lifetime.” ~ Lauren Hunke, Corporate Marketing Manager of Southeast Industrial Equipment

The day continued as our group participated in several different rooms at the popular Exit Strategy. Focusing on working as a team in a high stress environment where you have to work together, make quick, educated decisions and trust one another to find the exit is one that the sales staff will never forget! 2016 will no doubt be a great year for the company and SIE  will continue to give back to the surrounding communities as seen in the previous blogs below!

TOP 5 Forklift Safety Additions

Safety Additions to Forklift

The top 5 forklift safety additions to add to your lift truck are paramount in ensuring the safety of everyone in and around forklifts in your facility.

Southeast Industrial Equipment takes safety to another level for our customers by offering a centralized parts department with over $2 million in inventory ready to add the following 5 things we think you need added to your lift truck.

  • Toyota Genuine Blue LED Safety LightThe Toyota Genuine Blue LED Pedestrian Light is one that we recommend added to every lift truck we sell, lease, or rent to our customers because of the ease of installation and the low sale price. It is a low-cost item to add to any lift truck that will ensure the visibility of these pieces of equipment backing up out of an aisle, trailer, etc.

  • Somewhat new to the market is the Red Zone Danger Area Safety Light. The red zone light projects a safe zone red line on the floor at your desired distance away from the lift to which pedestrians should not cross when in contact with a lift trucRed Zone Danger Lightk. It is clearly visible on any indoor floor surface and ensures the safe distance of individuals to prevent accidents while in use. The red zone danger area safety light is easily installed to lift trucks and plugs directly into the lift. It is installed on the overhead guard and can be placed on all four sides.

  • Safety Warning LightsOSHA requirements for this safety accessory vary by application. The strobe light, or beacon, flashing light is only required by OSHA when pedestrians can see the light projected. For example, if you are operating your lift trucks outdoors during the daylight, there is no need for this part. Most, if not all indoor applications will require the lift truck to have a strobe light attached.

Submit A Parts Request

  • back up alarmIn noisy to very loud environments a back up alarm may or may not be of use for a lift truck but in most applications it is very helpful to operators and pedestrians letting them know a lift truck is coming. Whether alerting pedestrians of the lift truck backing up out of an aisle or pulling out of a trailer, the back up alarm for lift trucks are one of the most popular features on our lift trucks.

Submit A Parts Request

  • When operating a vehicle, what is the one thing that immediately comes to mind that you can use to loudly alert others of danger? Your horn, of course, which is why it would feel bare if an operator did not have the option to innately beep a horn when near pedestrians or other potential hazards. A number of Toyota forklift models have an optional rear assist grip which has an option to add an additional horn to. Any type of noise alert that can be administered to let oncoming traffic and pedestrians know that the lift truck is coming will reduce the risk of injury and accidents in the workplace.Rear Assist Grip with Horn
