As a company, Southeast Industrial Equipment focuses on family, strong business relationships, providing quality equipment and services, and giving back to the communities we serve.
SIE conducted our annual mid-year sales meeting that involves a team building event each year. This is the time of year when we all get together to focus on the good of the company and the surrounding communities. We wanted to pack a punch and find a way to give back big and what better to do that but by serving the youth to promote healthy living and safety.
We have teamed up with the local non-profit organization of the national Boys & Girls Clubs of America to promote healthy living and to give back to our community. As a team, SIE worked with a local bicycle manufacturer, Blood Sweat Gears, to build 75 bikes by hand to donate to the youth of the Boys & Girls Club of Fort Mill, SC during our “field day” event on Monday July 25th,2016. This event was planned with the 2016 Olympics in mind and the notion that “going for the gold” is not only a goal but a way of living for the children that attend this summer camp.
After much detailed planning, the event went off without a hitch beginning with the presentation of the bicycles to the children. They had no idea they would be receiving such a gift to not only use in the games arranged on this day, but to take home, care for, and keep. The looks on their faces were priceless and solidifies all of the reasons why SIE takes so much pride in giving back to the communities that surround the southeast and beyond.
Safety is key to the success of the material handling industry much like the success of the athletes in the Olympics. After presenting the bikes to the children, Keith Isenberg of Blood Sweat Gears, spoke about the importance of safety while riding bicycles. Along with the bicycle donation, each child received a safety helmet that was custom fitted by our sales team after the children got their bikes. Keith focused on the importance of wearing your helmet at all times when riding their bikes, important hand signals and safety tips to keep in mind in around busy areas, streets, sidewalks and so on. The children were given an opportunity to tell us what they thought was the most important thing they should wear while riding their bikes. To our delight they all agreed that wearing their helmet was most important.
Thanks to the Fort Mill Police Department, the children were able to practice the correct hand signals and things they learned from Blood Sweat Gears on their brand new custom fitted bikes.
From there, the real fun began. Thanks to Andrea Monteruil Photography, a lifestyle photographer in the Charlotte, NC and Fort Mill, SC area, we were able to capture the fun in action! The team at the Boys & Girls Club of Fort Mill, SC put together an outstanding morning of fun-filled activities for the SIE sales team to interact with the children.
We participated in water relay races
Corn Hole
and Air 4-Square
The sales team and children enjoyed a lunch catered by SIE after the days’ activities and as we parted to go on to our next engagement, the children did not want us to leave! The relationships built through “friendship, fun and fitness” was the ultimate take away that our team and the children have not stopped speaking of. What a great opportunity to partner up with a local non-profit organization to get a hands on experience in giving back and having fun while channeling our inner youth! “Being able to see the smile on their faces is the gift that our sales team will remember for a lifetime.” ~ Lauren Hunke, Corporate Marketing Manager of Southeast Industrial Equipment
The day continued as our group participated in several different rooms at the popular Exit Strategy. Focusing on working as a team in a high stress environment where you have to work together, make quick, educated decisions and trust one another to find the exit is one that the sales staff will never forget! 2016 will no doubt be a great year for the company and SIE will continue to give back to the surrounding communities as seen in the previous blogs below!
